Designing an SEO roadmap your growth team will actually use

By Growth Team · 7 min read · Updated: Jan 2025

This is a placeholder article layout you can wire into your CMS. Use it to tell the story behind your SEO, paid media or CRO frameworks. Break content into clear sections with headings, callouts and bullet points.

Start with the funnel, not keywords

Before any keyword research, map the journeys users take across your funnel. Align product, marketing and sales on what “good” traffic actually means, then reverse-engineer topics from there.

  • Define macro and micro conversions
  • List key decision-makers and their questions
  • Map existing content to each stage

Translate audits into experiments

Instead of delivering a 60-page audit PDF, translate findings into prioritized experiments with clear owners and expected outcomes. This template can be reused for any growth roadmap.

“What is the minimum we need to ship in the next 2 weeks to validate this hypothesis?”

Example experiment format

Use a simple experiment card format:

  1. Hypothesis
  2. Why now / impact
  3. Steps to launch
  4. How we measure success

Make reporting boring (in a good way)

Set up dashboards and weekly rituals so everyone knows what’s working, what’s blocked and what’s next. Keep it visual and action-focused, not just a wall of numbers.
